Guest Phil1934
I found an out of the way yard with good prices and two complete cars, a 280ZX and a 300, $75 for 4 mags or $200 for a rear. I would like to run the 300 mags as they are 15" while the iron cross 280 wheels are 14". Do I need spacers and how big and where can I get? Car receiving is a 260 Z and I don't want to change brakes. Also I think the Pull A Part has a picked over 280 but if moustache bar is there I can run 280 ZX rear? Will cover bolt up after I remove single mount at rear? Is front hanger the same? Can I use ZX axles? Or should I just keep looking for a 280Z rear? Guest Phil1934
OK I found 2 280 Z's at a Pull a Part. One had the moustache bar behind the mounts, the other in front. Can we say all rears with the moustache bar behind the bushings are R200's? Also there was no front mount so will the R180 front mount on a 260 Z work? Guest zfan
I believe if the mustache bar is outside it is the r200 set up as my 71 that I converted has it mounted outside and I put a lsd 3.70 r200 in place of the r180. Mike
evildky
iron cross wheels came in both 14" and 15" the Z31 wheels will fit fine on the rear, they are wider with a bit of positive offset so up front will fit if you have coilovers, if not then the fronts will not fit
Guest Phil1934
So are spacers and longer studs the way to go or should I grab the 300 hubs while I'm there?
Dan Juday
If you find a diff with the moustashe bar aft of the vertical suspension supports you can be reasonably sure it's a R200 unless someone had swapped it for a R180 in a previous like. This would be highly unlikely but it seems you find some strange stuff at the yards, Phil. Your front diff mount will work just fine. Oh ya, be sure you grab the bar too. You can modify your R180 bar but if you can get the R200 bar for a few bucks more it's not worth the effort.
auxilary
make sure you flip the r180 mount 180 degrees. i learned the hard way
Drax240z
Just a thought, are you sure the 300 mags are 4 bolt? All years except 84 were 5 bolt if I remember correctly. I'm sure you've checked, but it would suck to buy wheels you can't use.
BRAD D
And is the 280ZX is a 2+2 or a turbo you should grab the CV shafts, then you can use them with Ross C's Adapters
evildky
84-85 N/A came with 4 lugs, right bolt circle(4x4.5) but like a +30mm offset
Guest Phil1934
I got a 280 rear for $59. Somone had already pulled the suspension so couple of bolts and the chunk and axles were mine. Also found a single speed Taurus fan in a trunk. I'll pick up the 300 wheels today. I see Ross has a spacer so will probably go that way unless my machinist wants to slice a few inches off the inside of the fronts and an inch off the outside of the rears, swap them and reweld for a reasonable price.
