Guest Casey240Z
I thought that I blew a head gasket so I replaced both of them. There was tons of coolant in the #3 cylinder and the oil was like a milkshake so I thought that would fix it. So once I put everything back together I drove it around and it ran alright but then started to smoke(white). Then the next time I tried to start it, it sounded like it was hydrolocked. I haven't had time to mess with it since I am finishing up my last weeks of school. So the next time I take the motor apart what should I look for and do? Tim240z
Either your heads are warped, or you have a cracked block or head. the white smoke is burning coolant....probably has a sickly sweet smell too? Tim
Guest Casey240Z
I haven't been able to smell it because it will only smoke after I drive it for a couple minutes and a few minutes after that it stops. Ok so when I take it apart again I am going to take the heads to a machine shop. How much will that cost? So if the heads are fine than it must be a crack in the block right? Therefore I think I will move on to putting an lt1 t56 swap.
denny411
You should also be sure that your heads and block are clean and free of any traces of old gasket material. Also be sure that you are using a good quality torque wrench and following the proper torque sequence. Also be sure to use teflon thread sealant on your head bolt threads.
