JB_BA
Ok, the belt that runs my water pumped, which is BRAND NEW, just popped right off last night while I'm driving down the road, and the temp guage goes off the scale, smoke pours out of the radiator, and I go nuts for a little bit. I'm in the parking lot, get the belt back on...and ease down the road with no trouble...(keep in mind the car has a brand new Griffin radiator in it...) next day (today) I'm coming home from work and the temp guage starts wagging around (???...maybe it broke the night before...) like quickly going from 185 to 230 and back again...no way I think...then smoke spills out of the overflow on the radiator...and I pull over into a driveway...pop the hood and coolant is spewing everywhere...the belt is still on...???!?!?!?! What has happened to my car. (Also there was a pop before the smoke, but I think it was the pressure hitting the top of the overflow {I hope.}...there wasn't any smell or oil anywhere, besides the smell of coolant...) Mike kZ
Stupid question, but did you refill the rad the first time? I don't mean fill it and put the cap on and that's it. I mean make sure the system is full. It sounds like you had an air pocket, and that's why it boiled over. Add some water wetter , and make sure the system is full. P.S. have you checked your email,or the "EVENTS" forum about an upcoming Georgia HybridZ event?
72zcar
maybe the thermostat is hammered.
pparaska
The pump is somehow bound up? Can you easily turn it by hand with the belt off?
Graeme
sounds like your pump has shit itself, perhaps explaining the belt coming off. remove the belt and give it a spin, if shes hard to turn shes glagged.
JB_BA
I'll give the pump a check in the morning... by some freakish coincidence in the process of overheating the module in my distributor managed to fry itself...haha...I don't think my car likes me... but I can pick one up for $15 - $30, so no biggie...assuming I don't have to replace the water pump also... Thanks guys, JB
