How to tell if it's a world class?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how to identify a wc t5 from a nwc t5. I'm wondering cuz I found this guy on ebay selling a wc t5 but the actual tranny came from a 83' and he said it was rebuilt as a wc t5 and it has only 2000 miles on it. Also the guy lives in Temecula which is pretty close to me and it includes the bellhousing, driveshaft, and clutch assembly. Thanks!

Be wary. It is cost prohibitively expensive to do that. The speed gears have bearings underneath them in a WC trans and use bushings in a non-WC. These gears are REALLY pricey. Most likely it was just rebuilt and they are running ATF in it would be my guess. If it is cheap, it is still not so bad a deal.

Try the Pick and Pull in San Diego. 805 south to main street, left on main street. Left on Nirvana. Road T's at the end, go right and it will be about 2 blocks down on the right side of the road. I pulled my WC T5 from there a few weeks ago for $128.00 Just the transmission without bellhousing would be about $90.00 I think. I wouldnt pay $450 for a T5 of questionable origin. Hope this helps you out,
