JoeinCA
I was greeted with an unwanted gift this morning... At some point in the night, somebody thought that i may enjoy getting a FREE fender adjustment on my soon to be JTR converted 77 280Z. They also decided not to leave any way for me to contact them, and thank them for the fender adjustment. GRRRRR What the heck is wrong with people? They hit someone's car, absolutely destroying the driver's side fender... they may have bent my unibody... and then they just drive off. Plus, i only have liability insurance, because i cant really afford to pay higher rates... so now i get to pay for somebody else's mistake. Just needed to vent a little bit.... thanks for your time, Joe

denny411
I`ve had two of my cars damaged by hit and run drivers. I tracked the first one down by crossing the part#`s from a marker light left at the scene, and the paint color on the side of the car. I then just kept my eyes open for that make and color of car with damage to the right front corner. I ran the other driver down when I personally saw him burning rubber to get away. Luckily I was up at 2:30am working on the Z. Good luck finding the culprit. The city cops in my area aren`t smart enough, or ambitious enough to track them down. If the other driver doesn`t leave some piece of wreckage that just happens to have their Name, date of birth, address, home phone#, work phone#, blood type, social security #, and their mothers maiden name, you will have little luck pursuading the police to pursue them. Don`t count on uninsured motorists coverage paying anything either. i found out after the first time that they will ONLY cover damages IF they can prove the other driver was uninsured. Guest shauno_
One small word of advice for you.... Don't assume it was some kids! Just because they are the easiest to blame because of their lack of experience does not make them the likely culprit. You never know, It could have been your neighbour... Just a friendly message... Georgia Flash
Good luck finding the culprit. The city cops in my area aren`t smart enough, or ambitious enough to track them down. Most cops like to track down hit and run drivers. However MOST people think that THIER problem is the only problem that a cop has to work on or should be concerned with! I was almost got killed by friendly fire on Friday night by a Georgia State Patrol Trooper! He was involved in a chase and pitted the vehicle as they came up behind my traffic stop location. No we did not get an advanced warning that the chase was about to enter our jurisdiction. Anyway after the trooper spun the car, he attempted to rush in and get the guy out of the car. The guy floored it running over the troopers foot in the process. Well the trooper opened up on the guy and emptied his magazine (15 rounds) down range. Myself and my rookie (trainee) were sitting ducks! Bullets were flying everywhere. So get off the cops backs, most people would not think of doing our job but are oh so quick to criticize us for not seeming to be enthusiastic on a hit and run investigation. By the way, I have in my glove box in my patrol car a side marker lens from an early 80's model Chevrolet Cavalier that committed a hit and run accident two weeks ago. Everytime a blue cavalier passes me while I am on patrol I look to see if it has the broken side markers. So don't tell me we aren't smart enough or don't care because we do! JoeinCA
Luckily the only damage done was to the drivers side fender, no unibody damage. I didnt call the cops, because it got hit the morning i was planning on tearing into my v8 conversion.... so i just figure i can find a good fender before i finish the work... I'll have to post a pic of the fender sometime... it's pretty ugly. thanks for the advice guys. Joe
