i just went crazy and started disconnecting everything possible. the 2 bolts that hold it down, and a bunch of hose clamps.. what else is necessary to loosen the fuel rail for removal? the haynes manual speaks nothing of it.. even in the supplementary. thanks for the advice!

12mm bolt on the passenger side of the block.

12mm nut holding it to a pulley.

2 12mm bolts holding it to the manifold.

PULL THE INJECTORS AND RAIL TOGETHER, no doubt they will be fused together by now.

2 Fuel lines

Plugs on harness.

Good luck.

thanks, that will definately make things easier. also, how should i go about removing the screws that are stripped? there are about 3 or 4 that has really soft metal. i already bought replacement screws, but i cant get those other ones out! i was thinking i could dremel a little slot, and use a flathead to screw em out?

i'm trying to install a finned holley type fuel rail and there were no instructions included.. so... my question is what all has to be removed and what modifications, if any, are needed? i was told to use a high pressure 5/16 fuel line rather than a standard fuel line. i'll be using some braided steel lines, would that suffice? also, in a picture on zcarcreations, it seems they ripped out a whole section including the cold start valve and FSR. where does the fuel pressure regulator go? i'm very confused. i just finished soldering on new bosch connectors but now i dont know how to install these rail completely. any ideas? pictures? that would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much.

What are the fittings on the finned rail? If you have hose barbs, you'll be wanting 5/16" FI hose like you were advised. If you want to move to braided line, you'll be replacing the 5/16" hose barbs with pipe thread adapters to -AN (if they're fitted with pipe threads.) Usually on a fuel rail replacement, you have to relocate the fuel pressure regulator. -AN fittings and braided line are not going to mix with a stock regulator.

the fittings on the rail are hose barbs, but the fuel cell that i have is equipped with the -AN fittings. would it be better to keep the hose barbs and get a convertor for the -AN fittings out of the cell, or just completely switch to -AN? where would i mount the regulator? was there any particular reason it was originally in the center? thanks again, i'm so lost.
