Guest Blue02wrx
ok i put a bigger throttle body on my 82 n/a car and have had nothing but problems since. i foul out plugs in a heart beat and do not have a leak between afm and throttle blade. i put a breather filter on the valve cover but i don't think that would fould the plugs out would it?? i also noticed that my car runs so much better without the tps plugged in and the sensor on the head beneath the 5th spark plug i beleive. someoone tell me why that is. if they are hooked up the car backfires through the intake and will hardly crank, if they are unplugged it fires right up and purrs like a kitten until you get on it, then it fouls plugs out. it's really irritating me, i am putting the stock throttle body back on and hooking my valve cover vent back up and see whta that does, but the sensor thing is really tripping me out. Drax240z
Did you keep the same TPS sensor when you switched TB's? There are 2 types, and the Z's used the switch type, the procedure for checking it is in the haynes manual. Also, if you don't put it back on correctly, you could run into problems. Best bet is to start there, since that is what you messed around with when swapping TB's.
SleeperZ
Sounds lik you've disconnected your head temperature sensor. That will cause it to run way rich.
Guest Blue02wrx
the car won't even start with the head temp sensor disconnected. i put the stock tb back on today and the only way i could get it to crank was to unplug that sensor...arghhhh how aggravating. well at least i know why the car runs so rich now i need to find out why the car won't start with that sensor plugged up, any suggestions? can it go bad? pallnet
make sure the TPS is adjusted properly as per the manual. i know i remove the TPS for cleaning when i put them on ebay or sell to ppl. and if you were to buy one of mine, you will have to reset the TPS when you install it on the car. some ppl use the flap adjustment screw to set the base idle and some use the aidle adjustment on the side of the intake of the ZX's. that is why i don't even bother setting it. most ppl who do the conversion will have to reset it anyways. see if that works for you.. good luck.. pallnet
Guest Blue02wrx
how would you reset the tps? can the head temperature sensor go bad??? i can start the car easier now with the sensor unplugged and when i plug it in the car will die if you don't give it any gas. i am about to yank the motor out and put a 350 in there, screw all these sensors and crap.
