Guest szlash280z
will a turbo's heat chew up aluminized pipes? Regular aluminized exhaust piping seems like it would be pretty skinny and not last long in a downpipe application to me. anyone ever try to use regular aluminized pipes to make a downpipe? Cody 82 ZXT
I'll let ya know as soon as mine rust out. I think it might be awhile though. I'm sure I'll have another turbo or changed it for some other reason before I run into any corrosion proublems.
yo2001
My DP is aluminized steel. I sprayed the high temp (1200 or 1500 I can't remember) stuff and it's staying on okay.
Guest szlash280z
awesome! did you guys have a "muffler shop" make them for you? or are you welders yourselves?

Guest szlash280z
Hey yo2001 mandrel bent right? is it just two 45* bends? can you give me a rough idea of the length between bends? did you just weld it to the stock flange? what gauge and diameter pipe did you use? I am thinking 2.5" would be fine. I have been trying to go to welding school myself, but I have no time available for it. A guy at work said he would try to weld one together for me if I had some specs, but I have no clue how to get specs. It would probably help if I had the engine in the car... yo2001
I got one U-bend 3 inch mandrel. I cut it in half and turned it and welded back together. I see if I can post my crappy pic.

Lockjaw
I got aluminized too. And I welded it myself, and my welds suck, but if the pipe stays in place, I am ok with it.
Guest Anonymous
yo2001, Can you let me know which sizing did you use for all the pipes? I was gonna order mine but I don't know which parts I should get. Nathan
yo2001
I used 3 inch U bends and some tight 90 deg 3inch bend.
