Guest TK240Z
Hi, I did the 1984 Z31 MAF and the turbo ECCS into my car. I also useda 300zxt wiring harness. The sensors I have is, fuel temp sensor, maf, 300zxt o2 sensor, 1983 280zxt head temp sensor, and 280zxt knock sensor. The car doesn't run right. It won't rev. I believe I saw somewhere it stated I have to swap injector #2 and #5 wiring. Should I do it? I did ECU self diagnosis and I got only #14 speed sensor that I don't have. any help is appreciated. thanks in advance, TK
SleeperZ
For me the injector wiring swap did nothing. The firing order of the straight 6 is different than the VG, and the turbo ECU injector wiring is different too, so I doubt it'd make a difference. Can't hurt to try. If it's running and not puking any codes on you, I would say you are down to the basics - fuel pressure and spark advance.
Guest TK240Z
Thanks Sleeper, the car is kinda running and it wouldn't rev. i haven't hooked up the tachometer yet so don't know the exactly number but i'm guessing it revs only up to like 2,000rpm. I don't have a timing light. I'll try to lotate the distributor and see if anythingchanges. I have adjustable fpr and I set it at 40psi. Thanks again, TK
yo2001
My setup had no signal from MAF when I installed it and it acted just like that. (but it was throwing me a MAF code. #12 I think) It basically ran on limp mode and rev limit on the limp mode is 2,000rpm.
Guest TK240Z
Thanks Yo, How do I know if I'm in limp mode? My ECCS is from 1984 turbo. I'll check the maf voltage. Thanks again, TK
yo2001
IF you are in limp mode, you can unplug the MAF and it'll still run the same. Basically, it's a pre programmed MAP to keep the car running even without MAF
Guest TK240Z
Hi, I unplugged the maf and it was running same, so I'm in limp-mode. Do you guys know which pins are for the maf burn-off? I must not connected the maf wiring wrong since I used wiring harness from 300zxt. However, I wanna make sure if mine connected right. My maf is connected as; Red-White wire to Pin 12 Two Black wires to ground Black-White to Pin 35(12V from EFI Relay) Yellow-Green wire Pin 30 Gley Shileded Black wire Pin 31 Thanks, TK
yo2001
http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=173135&highlight=#173135 check that post out. I don't have time to look up my FSM now. Anyway, you might also have the MAF burn off circuit open. might want to check that.
SleeperZ
Make sure you didn't wire the MAF backwards, piping 12V into the signal to the ECU. IT TAKES OUT THE ECU. I tried to repair one from a friend, and had no luck finding the problem internally, but it would not read the MAF.
Guest TK240Z
Thanks guys, I finally got it. It revs smoothly and makes BOOST. I have only a downpipe for now and the thing is loud. lol I haven't found out how to connect 240z stock tachometer, so I didn't rev much. It made about 6psi or so. I've already addicted to whoosh sound that HKS blow off valve makes. Thanks again, TK
