Guest EnthuZiast
So I drive my '79 280zx to the movie store, hop back in and it wouldn't start. I get the feeling that the engine isn't getting fuel. It just turns over, but doesn't catch and start. It was running like a top until I tried to fire it up again. Any suggestions on how to diagnose the problem? Thanks EnthuZiast
THUNDERZ
Is it vapor lock? How hot was it outside when this happened? How is the temp of the car itslef?
Guest EnthuZiast
The temp of the car was not unusual at all. It was not hot when I tried to start it back up and it was about 80F outside.
JMortensen
Isn't that the usual MO of a bad module? Gets hot, won't work, cools off, works fine? Vapor lock could be caused by the heat too, I suppose... The engine would definitely have heat soaked while sitting in the parking lot, so don't count heat out yet. I've got a mechanical temp gauge on my Z, probe mounted in the thermostat housing and it will run at 190, turn it off it for 5 minutes, and the temp is at 210 or 215. Start it up, coolant circulates, and it immediately goes back down. Jon
Guest EnthuZiast
I can only wish it was something like that. I'm towing the little sucker to my mechanic's shop tomorrow to see what happened and how much money I get to spend that I don't have. Oh well, cars will be cars!
