z ya
When the z is at operating temp the oil ppressure is between 10 and 15 psi. The oil pump was in the the mistery short block before I got it so I dont know if it was a high or low volume pump. At start up it is around 40 psi but once the car goes to 190 degress the oil pressure is LOW! The guage is an Auto Meter mechanical that is brand new so I no its not the guage. What do you guys think I should do ??????
Guest Anonymous
Hello, I have heard in the past that a small block Chevy can live on 5psi per 1000 RPM, but 10-15 PSI sounds a little low to me. Without knowing what parts you have it is difficult to say if there is a problem or if the engine is just worn out. I would add some STP oil treatment to the oil to help with thinning out of the oil at temperature. I would look to a long term fix though. Good luck! utvolman99
What I hear is 10psi per 1000 RPM. What does your gauge do when you rev the engine?
Guest Anonymous
Hey, Thats true about it being 10 PSI per 1000 RPM, I called a friend to verify and thats the number I got. Ken
z ya
It jumps up quick to like 25 or 30 psi at 2000rpm. I am thinkin I will run it till she goes! Then I can build the shortblock I have always wanted!
