Guest KEINsm
I just want to confirm if my speedometer is correct. I have an early '71 with the older shifter design 4spd. My speedometer reads 86-87mph at 4000rpm in 4th gear. Is that about the correct speed?
awd92gsx
KEIN, Probably the easiest way to check your speedo is to just drive on the freeway and compare your odometer mileage to the mile markers on the side of the freeway...there are also roads marked with speedometer tests, but, they're kinda hard to find when you need one. If you can find a side-of-the-road radar sign, those help, too...again...hard to find when you actually need one.

innerware
That gear ratio calculator is the coolest thing ever. Now I know that my rpms are correct. I always wanted to know. Thanks
Tim240z
If you don't have a GPS unit, they are well worth it. Among other things, they can tell you speed and distance, very accurately. The Garmin E-Trex Legend is very good and is less than $300. Tim
