The stock CAS is located inside the 82/83 distributor. There are no after market distributors that I'm aware of for the 280zx turbos that have a CAS that will work with the stock ECU. Be very cautious of the after market CAS's. I've tried two and both had issues at higher RPM's. Stick with the factory parts here. Rebuilding the distributors is a piece of cake. The only real internal ware out parts are the bearings, and they can be bought at most any bearing supply house. Nissan did a fairly decent job with the stock distributor. Large cap, roller bearings and a stable optical sensor make for a good package. It would be possible to swap to the 81 crank trigger and use most any NA after market distributor, but I don't think that this would be an upgrade at all.

Coils are another story. Most any after market coil will work fine, but remember you'll need the stock igniter to fire the coil. The igniter is the transistor (shinny metal thing) located on the side of the stock coil pack.

Hope this helps.
