l28et in 240. mounting Question

i was wondering if the L28et could just bolt into my 240 without any fabrication. sorry if this sounds like a stupid question. i think i does just bolt in but im not sure. i have done a search nad i have not found anything on motor mounts or how the l28 would be instaled. thank you.

thank u very much for the help. i am still not sure what i want to do. 350, l28et. or just fix up my stock motor best i can with a street cam and stuff. AHHHHH! im a very confused 17 year old. i hate not having money. its horrid!

yeah i was talking to this guy at the custom z place by my house and he said he can get a guy to get all the parts i need for the l28et swap. but he also said a 350 swap might run cheaper. what is your budget on this swap so far?

I would suggest a modded L6 for now, I remember when I was 17 and thank god I couldn't afford a Z, it would be dead like the rest of the cars I destroyed, but building it and learning from it can give you a lot of knowledge, experience and respect for what you built !

so start small, moded L6, maybe later you can build a nice L28et, and from ther who knows? you might decide to turn it to a 400hp 3.1, or maybe v8, you can alwayschange up, it's a great learning experience, and you don't want to overload yourself or it'll never get done

Go with the hot L6 naturally aspirated, you won't be dissapointed with the power. And you will have the chance to learn a lot about engines on the way. Save the turbo swap for a few years down the road when you have more money and experience. ;)

 

Free flowing exhaust, cam, a quality ignition, triple webers, bump up the compression ratio... Makes a very quick street car, and one that sounds Suhweeeet!!!!

the L6 in stock form in the lightweight s30 body is not a slow car, tons of fun, but with time your gonna want more, I assume thats where you are now, modifying theL6 can get some nice numners wether stroking, or a F54 flattop with high comp head, or a bumpy cam, lots of ways to go makes it faster and more fun, as time passes your gonna want more, hopefully by then you'll have gotten some good experience under your belt, and will be able to evaluate the best next step for you, I just think your better off taking it slow instead of buiilding a 4-500 hp monster right away, you'll also likely decide to modify your suspension and brakes along the way, and your less likely to get discouraged by taking on a job that might seem like too much half way through, we all want you to suceed in making your car into what you want, we'd all hate to see another person bite off too much at once, get discouraged and walk away, possible for good, take it slow, learn along the way and you'll be better for it, without having to learn it all at once

I'm not to impressed with the performance that my l26, with a tighe cam, high compression pistons, tuned length extractors. I didn't do these mods, the fella who owned it before me did.

 

But i'm thinkin that the stock imitation su carbies (with all that emission control crap on it etc) are holding the engine back. Cause I can't tune the thing.

 

But i'm sticking with my L26. I was reading in a Import magazine, that a L28 Turbo in a 240z was pulling 10's down a quater. Without NOS.

Those flat top SU's are referred to as "boat anchors" usually... and not without reason! They are a crazy beast with all the emission modifications.

 

Building a ~180rwhp L28 isn't tough or expensive in the grand scheme of things, and its certainly a quick engine in a 240z.
