Kevin Shasteen
Just finished @ three hours of searching thru all 49 pages of this thread in hopes of answering the RWD Tranny question...no w/o a shadow of doubt answers. Does the 3800 Bk V6 engine still use the BOP bellhousing bolt pattern and are there Notrh/South motor mount bolt holes on this engine: in other words, can this engine be mounted in a North/South manner (RWD) w/conventional motor mounts at the side of the block? datsunlover
Ok.. I used to know this.. hmm... a few years ago, I was thinking of buying a mid to late 80's Buick lesabre T-type. These cars had the 3800 motor in them (FWD) but if I remember corectly, the block still retained the rear drive mounts up to 88 or 89. (I think) As for the tranny, Im not sure but I know there has to be something out there. I friend of mine had a late 80s monty carlo with a 3.8 and it was an older RWD Monty. I think it was a 4 speed OD. ( 700r4 or 200r4 ?? ) Hope this helps a bit...
Mike C
I have heard that the FWD 3800 has the narrow 60 degree type bellhousing pattern. But I cannot confirm this. A trip to the local GM dealer and a poke under the hood could be enlightening.
