got an lt1 intake

Recommended Posts

Keep us posted, I'm really interested to hear how it goes. The new Holley intake also looks interesting but height is apparently an issue. I'm hoping to use a converted carb intake if the guy would ever get aroound to converting it

looking at that intake conversion... you guys think those (2) 1/2" coolant lines will flow enough?

and what kind of engine management would be needed?

too many questions!!

Looking at that myself... in the process of an 87 300zx 350 conversion.... not enough hood clearance for a carb/NOS setup..

Allright, some engine management info for that modified intake. I e-mailed John over at lt1intake and he sent this back to me...

"You can get the speed density ECM 1227730 from many cars.

Corsica

Celebrity

Ciera

Pontiac 6000

Century

Beretta

Cavalier

Tempest

Cadillac Cimarron

And of course '90-92 Camaro's and Firebirds. Very common ECM and should be

less the $50 used less prom. Most of the cars that these were in are V-6's

but the ECM is the same, just need to replace the prom.

Wire harness would best be a Speed Density TPI "painless harness".

A question i would have, is how much for the prom, and where would be the best place to get it? kind of a non-researched question... just flowing...

the same guy who sold me the intake is also going to give me his harness. he went from an auto to the t56 and certain things are not working on the car as a result. that being the case he is going to get the correct harness for his car and sell me his old one for around 50 bucks. he works for a local gm dealer and they will just warranty out one for him. aka free + shipping. as far as the ecm goes i'll figure out something when it gets to that point. i'll get ya'll some pics when i start the process.

i got into setting it all up and do it myself but have decided to let the guy at lt1intake do it. i know if i put my mind and effort into it i could but i would also hate to scew up a good manifold. and for 200 bucks thats good insurance to me. plus he's done it alot and knows the "tricks" involved.

i have a friend here that messed one up trying to do it and had to spend about a hundred bucks to have it welded up. after he got it together and installed it's really an improvement. mpg went from 14 to 18 and he dropped 7 tenths in the quarter. all around much more pleasant to drive. i would suggest it to anyone considering it. it's really not a whole lot more expensive then a carbed setup in the end. 2thumbs.gif2thumbs.gif

Has anyone gotten this completed yet. What was your total cost. And does anyone have any of the parts needed to do this conversion that they wont be using. Such as harness injectors intake etc. I think Im going to go this route. Lets hear some feedback...

Guest Your Car is Slow

There is a guy on CamaroZ28.com (in the for sale section) selling complete LT1 intake swap (everything you need) for TPI motors.

Its a bit pricey...but seems to be what yall are lookin for.

nm I found it...same guy posted on thirdgen.org for 550. price isnt bad im gonna try to do it cheaper. I just bought my intake for 75 bucks with the tb attached. Still gotta get the rails and injectors though but im pretty confident I can get them cheap or even make my own rails.
