Guest Zachb55
I need some help guys, ive been working on getting my tach figured out for a long time now and nothing is improving. im not sure what to ask for, do any of you have pictures of the wiring of your tachs? i know its a simple 4-prong plug but i undid those so i can make my own connections bypassing any outside forces that seem to be entering my stock wires. what is happening is my tach just pegs as soon as i turn the key to on, and i have focused the problem to just the red-blue wire that comes out with a black one on the left side (looking at the back of the tach) near the center. i would assume these arent the wires that have to do with the measurement of revolutions though? obviously that must not be right because somehow the surplus of power in that very wire is causing my tach to peg. do you guys have any suggestions? my only idea is to hard wire everything myself and see if it works then. my wiring under the heater panel is a real mess because a previous owner did some work in there and its not pretty. what really gets me mad is i know something I did made the tach stop working, because it was fine a couple months ago, before i tackled why my lights werent working. now they work and my tach doesnt... ughh, any suggestions? pics? i need some help, i cant hardly read this damn wiring diagram, and i have no idea where to find some of these resistors and stuff... thanks for any advice you can provide, im done babbling for now, imma go try some other things on it. -Zach

fastzcars
Zach. According to my wiring diagram the red/blue stripe wire is spliced to the positive 12 volts from the green wire hazard switch. There are also red/blue wires for the 2 interior lamps to illuminate the gauges .The black is the ground. The Black/white stripe is the signal from the positive side of the Coil. The Green/white stripe is from the ignition switch. I hope that helps. As far as the signels not working. I would check the turn signal switch itself. They are known to to fail internally. Guest Zachb55
thanks for the reply after sitting out there looking at the diagram again i keep finding myself wondering about the same thing, the resistor which connects the green/white wire with the black/white one. i think that if it is shorting out right there then maybe that wire that is getting power that shouldnt be leads right to the black/white. if i could find where that resistor is i would have a good idea, im gonna get a continuity tester tomorrow and that should really help to find if things are shorting and what not. -Zach
