mas28O
I pulled my LT1 out today and put it right next to my LS1, and it makes the LT1 look very small. I did not know that there was this much dif between the two motors. I am going to test fit the LS1 on Sunday.
Guest Your Car is Slow
LS1 is 346ci...LT1 is 350. Iron block vs aluminum gives the LS1 a bit of a weight advantage...however overall dimensions should be nearly identical. Perhaps the coil packs on the valve covers...larger intake manifold..and accessories make it appear much larger?
maichor
The dimensions are different. The LS1 is wider by quite a bit because the angle of the pistons coming off the crank is greater in an LS1. Anybody know the exact differences?
jeromio
LS1 is 90* - I thought the SBC was also 90* ??
Brad-ManQ45
I'm sure they are both 90 degree engines. I would suspect deck height and head width to be the major culprits, but not having both engines side by side couldn't say...
fl327
anyway you could weigh the two? Ive heard that the ls1 is very very beefy internally, and it makes the weight difference marginal between lt and ls1.
