93 GMC truck issues...

Truck has a LOT of miles on it but runs well, normally... However, the last few days it has developed an eratic studer at about 2200rpms, and last night it died on my wife. It completely cut off in our neighborehood while she was going about 15 miles per hour... Lost everything, power steering, the lights dimmed, and the battery and check engine idiot lights came on. Started back up and ran, but now I need to troubleshoot it... It is a TBinjected 350 Chevy... Ignition module? ECU? Anyone else dealt with this?

This is a popular model truck, and I know other members here have it so...

Ideas appreciated. I'll be pulling it into the garage this evening when I get home.

Mike,

your's has OBD1 as does my '93 Sierra so have you done the 'ole jumper wire on the A-B port to check the codes? Mine was stalling for awhile and then would crank and run fine for a week or so. Finally checked the codes to find i had a bad (erratic) fuel pump relay. Probably your problem's different but if the computer stored it you can retrieve it. Hayne's manual details the trick and all the codes in the emission section or i could relay the codes to you.

BTW mine's got 193K. She doesn't look it (pic in gallery) . Collapsed a lifter a few months ago while towing a car. Let it sit the weekend and she pumped back up and runnin' fine now. Dodged that bullet for the time being.

She pulls that stunt again and that $200 stroker crank from Scat will look mighty tempting................................
