fl327
it should. brush off the heads a little bit, it should be pretty obvious. lots of hp. can be ported. stock is 275?
80LS1T
fl327, you dont mean 275cfm do you? Average cfm on intake is side is about 175(from .100"-.700") and exhaust is 135(from .100"-.700") Here are my flow number before and after some porting...... My heads are like between a "stage 1" and "stage 2" porting. Now my intake ports are 202CFM average and the exhaust are 159cfm average(both from .100"-.700") Guy
Guest zfan
LT1's with aluminum heads can make some serious power. Just add a cam, some roller rockers and mild port work on the heads and in a light Z, 11 second time slips are not out of the question. fl327
I meant 275hp. Have no idea what the heads flow, Im from the old school of fling it and bring it.
Hitman47
What on an lt1 is the best way to get close to 400 hp? is it a pushrod engine? i know nothing about them so thats why im asking. Can i buy aftermarket heads for them instead of stock? what intake work can be done? Chad
80LS1T
Ok I will answer your questions but I think you need to do a simple search on the http://WWW......... All these questions can easily be answered with a search on any good search engine(accept ours since is down, otherwise ours would do the job too!) Yes it is a push rod engine... The easiest way to 400HP is the "LT4 Hotcam Kit" This will get you close but with out some head work you probably will come up shy of 400HP. Yeah you can buy after market heads for it, they are expensive though. Most cost right around $2000 and go up from there. The LT1/LT4 intakes are pretty much as good as they get from the factory. Not too much work can be done to them. The LT1 intake has a little room for improvement but not really worth the $$$. Oh and dont bother with the LT4 heads and intake packages, they are waaaaaaaaaaay over priced. Get some better heads and have the intake port matched to the heads. Guest JAMIE T
My LT1 make 340+ at the wheels in my Z28 with a 6spdwith a slipping clutch. That is about equal to 400hp at the crank. Ported and polished heads(I did them)No flow numbers. LT4 HOT cam LT4 valve springs/locks/retainers Crane Gold Race rockers, 3/8 studs(not the metric ones that come with the "HOT" kit). CSI electric water pump Hooker long tube headers(from Jet Hot) 52mm BBK throttlebody Granitelli mass air meter I did not port the intake. I bought all of the parts "used" except the waterpump and headers. I got those new. The cam, springs, etc... I got from the same guy for something like $125, they were new, but he decided to go bigger. I got 8 rocker arms new from some guy on ebay. The other 8 came from a guy who is on this forum, but also on the camaroz28 forum. He had damaged a couple of rockers when he over-revved the engine, and bought new ones. I got the good ones left from his old set. The throttle body I got by installing a nitrous system on this guys Vette. I bought the air meter from that same guy. Now it has a SPEC stage 3 clutch and Aluminum flywheel.
