RPMS
White is defintely the easiest color to shoot, and with the right wheels and dark tinted windows, it's not offensive. It's also one of the easiest colors to keep clean. If your bodyman isn't the sh!t with paint, I'd strongly suggest going with a non-metallic, light color. They're the easiest to shoot and to maintain. There are too many ways to screw up metallics if you don't really know what you're doing. Bright yellow looks very good on a Z, I think. Racy and VERY custom looking. Black out the trim and shave the bumpers, and that's one MEAN looking ride, IMHO!
spotfitz
If the body guy can't do a good paint job, this sometimes means he can't do good body work. Any dark color will show bad body work, whether it be metallic, pearl or fades. I once had a p/u painted a dark metallic blue with a black metallic fade about 4" up and in just the right light the black was just slightly visible(mostly under street lights). The paint job looked very good, but you could see every ripple in the body work(but everything I had done wasn't )which made the truck look bad, which is why I'm doing my own body work. To my point... If the body guy is afraid of doing the paint, get someone else to do the body work! You may have to pay alittle more, but a bad paint job is a bad paint job, but a $12,000 paint job over bad body work will still look like a paint job over bad body work. With good body work any paint job will look good... Hope it helps.
Z-Dreamer
Well when my Z is ready for paint jail it's going to be JET BLACK with a blue pearl in it and a clear coat so it will look like it's a foot thick! Mark
Guest timhypo
DCZ's 71 painted the stock Datsun 112 yellow. Not the greenish-yellow I pictured. A nice color for sure, but I'm thinking more '70s mopar...

BQR280Z
My Z is almost ready for paint. 76-280 with custom bumpers, air dam, rocker ground effects and a custom built whale-tail (made from an Escort GT spoiler) and a custom cowled hood for intake clearance. She's going to be Viper Racing Yellow with White stripes. I do my own painting, I think it's going to look reeeal good. Bill

I think it looks much better in pictures than it sounds. Mike, I also like the way the stripes continue through the engine bay. Very classy. nullbound
definitely a bold choice. i must say that his car looks great in person and mike's an all around great guy. i wish i could have had my car next to his at the montgomery event... but that would have made me want my new paint job even sooner, hehe. my color of choice is silver. i'm about to paint the one in my signature bmw titanium silver. i also have an 1970 240 that is orange. being a hater of orange, i am actually going to change the color to bmw alpine white (yeah, i like the bimmer colors). i think white looks great on a z. any doubts? check out this white beauty: i'll be going a similar route: fairlady flares, euro bumpers, 280 vented hood, kaminari front spoiler (same one as on my silver car), 17" anthracite wheels. i can only hope mine looks as good as Satosan's.
