THUNDERZ
Is there a disadvatage to painting the engine bay a flat black(or satin). I am wondering about heat and the the look if anyone has done it.
j260z
if you are going to paint it a flat black, you should make your final coat a mat finish clear coat. the reason for this is that a flat paint, especially black, has a really rough surface which means it will pick up dirt really well and will look scuffed up in no time. at least with a clear coat on top you will have a smoother, easier to clean surface. GAZRNR
If possible, why not paint the engine bay the same color as the body of the car? This is how it came from the factory and will give the car a more finished look and less of a "worked on" look. IMO It was a lot of work but I painted my engine bay the same color as I will paint the exterior.

Guest 240zgtr
of course if you wanted the best heat resistant engine bay you should line it in gold flake, like the maclaren. man i butchered that spelling oh well.
