Guest JAMIE T
Hey guys I'm just wondering if I need to make the cross member spacers for mounting an LT1? I don't think Pete is uing the spacers with his swap(I know he doesn't have an LT1). Something about driveline alignment issues he had. Any body else have opinions as to if they are necessary? It seems like I wouldn't need them since the LT1 is so low profile, and has no distributer clearance issues.
Tim240z
I'm not using the X-member spacers (although I do have them). There is plenty of hood clearance. The LT1 intake is very compact.
mas28O
I did not use them for my LT1. Mike
Guest JAMIE T
Well then, It's settled... One thing I WON'T need to make. Now, I need to convince Mike Kelly that he needs another driveshaft, and donate his to me.
j260z
if you didn't use the spacers and it works well did you guys still have to elongate the holes in the motor mounts?
wheelman
J260Z, Elongating the holes in the motor mount is primarily for shifter placement. The LT1 has no problems clearing the stock Datsun hood latch no matter how far it's set back. The spacers can be used to provide more hood clearance for an engine with a tall air cleaner or intake manifold. Wheelman
