BillZ260
Any of you all put one of these together? I aquired one this weekend, it is pretty nice but needs to be cleaned up and assembled. What type of putty have you all used to seal the joints and cover any minor scratches in the slates?
riverz
The last time I put one togther we used fix all. Form a nice hard a sandable surface. And buy the felt form a billard supply not from a fabric shop. Don't adhear the fabric to the slate strech it across and atach it to the sides with a staple gun. Play on it until you get slack and strech it again. You may have to do it more than once. god luck

Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
As a tip for setting it up, use a fistfull of marbles in addition to a level to check for it being level. I havent seen putty or anything like that used to seal up the joints etc, what I have seen used that seems to work good is almost like a gasket material. I dont know what it is called, but it just slides into the joint and then the table is bolted together compressing the material. You could probably get it from any store that sells tables. Guest Anonymous
I watched the guys set mine up and they used what looked like plaster of paris to fill the seams. I think it came from a billards supply place. Mark
dmyntti
The way I was shown on a slate table was to bolt everything down using business cards as shims to line everything up and then melt beeswax into the joints with a torch. This was a billiard shop, the felt was stretched around the slate and then glued around the outside with a spray adhesive from 3M.
BillZ260
Wow, thanks for the tips. Man, this 9' table is HUGE! Glad we had the 'unusable' room for it Will get started on it maybe tonight!
