TomsCoupe
What products are you using??? im not sure. I went to a body shop and asked them for enough stuff to paint my car. Im going to leave it to the professionals this time though.
Tim240z
Can you expand on "looks like crap"?
TomsCoupe
the paint is very VERY wavy and had major buildup around the locks. It has about 2 dozen runs in it and the color sucks too. No tangerine for me.
RPMS
Don't let it get you down! There's not much that can't be improved by a drip razor (kinda like a wood plane, but much finer), wet sanding, and lots of gentle buffing. Just keep improving it one piece at a time, and it'll look much better before you know it.
Guest Zachb55
2 dozen runs? pisha! i had that in one door (seriously, dont ask how) and i just worked with it, and sure theres a few imperfections in my paint, but i dont plan on showing my car, and i still have tons of people starring at it. but i guess if your not happy with it you should make it the way you want it, if youve got the money good luck on your future projects, itll come around! -Zach
TomsCoupe
Yeah, i took it to the body shop and they said it is actually a decent job for my first ever attempt at painting. He said it would take a lot of color sanding and wet sanding to get it looking nice. i also have to sand off the clear. im an idiot, i cleared it without sanding the base coat. anyway, the color i chose is kind of growing on me. i guess we will see what happens. The project will be put on hold for a while, because cash is running short, so i have lots of time to decide.
blueovalz
What was the length of time from the time you applied the base-coat until the time you applied the clear-coat?
TomsCoupe
i left it for a week so that i didnt get those bubbles in my clear. that is a pet leave of mine. I signed up for autobody so as of next november, i will begining my jouney as a body man.

Also' date=' did you take the lock cylinders out??[/quote'] yeah, i didnt do a good job at sanding. you can see how i sanded more in some areas than in others. Nope, i left the cylinders in, but i am now going to shave the locks and handles.
Guest Zachb55
well fortunately, when it comes to money, sanding is about the cheapest thing you can do on your car. just take your time and be patient. i am dissappointed because i had to rush my sanding and buffing a bit so i could start driving my car, but if you've got time then give it all you can.
