would it be feasable to get the exhaust, and possibly the intake off of a 280ZX turbo to turbocharge my LD28? i know people have turboed them before, but i have only heard about custom stuff. the manafolds on the NA L24E, and the diesel appear to bolt up the same way, so i figured it might work.

Definitely worth a try. The L28ET exhaust manifold can be made to work on the LD28 head. The modifications will be re the mounting holes especially for the 3 center bolts, but minor mods will make it work.

Intercool it somehow, even with a Saab, Volvo, Audi, etc., intercooler.

This seems like a natural evolution of the LD28 had Nissan kept it. DAW

yeah, I wouldn't use the turbo intake manifold either, unless you have packaging problems. The diesel manifold has a strange shape. You could still use the gas manifold on the diesel, you would just have to have all the injector holes plugged and all the other smog fitting holes filled in too. Also, I would remove the throttle and just put something that you can attach the hose from the turbo to on there. You don't need a throttle on a diesel engine, it is actually better without one. The only easy way of metering more fuel that I can think of is to enrichen the mixture accross the entire power band. This will mean you will run pretty rich at idle, but not when you are on boost. Not sure if you can make this adjustment with the injector pump, or maybe you will need bigger injectors. A low pressure system would probably be safe. Anyhow it sounds like a cool project!

Hmm.. you don't need a throttle on a Diesel engine? Could someone explain this to me?

Diesels use a mechanical injection. Fuel is metered by "gas" pedal position and rpm; as a matter of fact the pedal is connected to the injection pump in my Benz. The amount of air is relatively unimportant as diesels have no problem running lean - that's a normal condition. So it's just easier to open the intake and not throttle it.
