It would smoke cops for sure... you could tell by the soot on the bumper =) Not to mention anyone following it with their windows down would have quickly been overcome by carbon monoxide poisoning anyway =) I like the look of those cars, and they may be fast when they were brand new, but after 100k or so miles they leave much to be desired =) My boss lived on my way home from work, so one day I was messing with him and riding his bumper trying to get him to gun it.... He did finally, and I downshifted, jumped into the other lane and passed him =) But thats not the funny part really... the funny part was the car I was driving was an 81 turbo automatic with no turbo =) The turbo had ingested itself a few months before and was nothing more than an empty shell that connected the manifold to the exhaust pipe =) He never lived that one down at work. It's my buddy Kyle's. 383 Strocker (Crate)...they are about to tub it though (he and his dad) and that will be it for the freeway fun...but I'm thinking they'll be doing some damage at the race track soon. He's looking for 11's to start off with...previously running 12.9's...not bad for that big hunk of steel. In a way, I wish they'd leave the car the way it is though, it's been restored so much that the car actually looks like it was just driven off the show room floor in '81. (As you can probably see. Even the interior is perfect. The only thing different about it is the dash, which his dad custom fabbed and is no sporting a set of 5 inch and 3 and 1/4 inch guages, as well as new blinker signals and an emergency brake "engaged" light. Oh, and I got a new gear set from Double D performance instead of a T-56 Tremec...I saved some money, and actually came out of the deal with stronger gears, and could keep the short throw shifter I already had...all in all I saved 1800 bucks and got a more durable tranny...and my short shifter...tremecs are a little notchy for me anyway... The funny thing is people like some of you guys that were fooled on here will hear his show and get pissed and call in to argue with the fake guy with the camaro.
