Guest Chevelle7d2
Ok I found this LT1 that Im thinking of getting but just thought Id ask some other fellow LT1 guys if you think its a good deal or not. ''Bored out 355 LT-1 motor from a 1995 Camaro that has been redone and has only seen 22000 reliable daily driven miles. I am the original owner of both the car and the engine and its components. This motor has been decked, honed and bored .030" over, checked for cracks, and hot tanked. It has TRW forged pistons at a 10.5 to 1 compression and Cromally rings. It has a Comp Cam Pro Magnum Roller rocker set w/1.7 ratio, and Comp Roller Cam and Comp Cams Roller Lifters and also has a high volume oil pump. The head chambers have been CNC’d and ported as well as the manifold to match to each other as well as the intake gasket. It has comp cam valve springs, new alternator, and water pump and just replaced the coil and wires with MSD blaster and 8.8 wires. The distributor has only about 5000 miles on it. The motor comes complete with a recently replaced starter, motor mounts, alternator power steering, and Semi new ac Delco AC compressor. Also the belt and exhaust manifolds. The manifold has been painted and brushed to look like the LT-4 with covers. It has an adjustable fuel regulator and I put the fuel lines on it incase of custom application off the camaro. This engine also features the Accel DFI (Digital Fuel Injection) System that plugs into your laptop and you can adjust just about every feature of your engine. This is a speed density system so no more Mass Air Flow sensor, you use a the Map sensor on your manifold instead, really nice system. Comes complete with all wires, computer and software to load onto your computer and complete instructions. It has the extra long cable for interface (I believe its 25 ft) with oxygen sensor and all. " Cam specs: Dur@.050 218-230 | Lift .495-.510 | LSA 114 | RPM Range 1600-5900 He is asking for $2200 shipped... and claims it will make around 450hp.. what do you guys think? baddriver
My first thought is, That's a hell of a deal. My second thought is, Why is it being sold? Who are these people who put thousands of dollars worth of parts and machine work into an engine and then sell it a few months later? I'd get all the info I could, including copies of the reciepts for the work and parts, prior to purchase. But if it all seems to be solid, no funny stuff, offer $2K and see what happens. 450HP would be a lot of fun.
Dan Juday
What a rip off! Give me this guys number and I'll tell him off for you! Seriously, that is a great deal. We paid $2700 for a '95 LT1/T56 package with 100k miles on it and thought we did well.
Tim240z
Hmmm.....I paid $1400 for my LT1/T56 from a 94 Z28, with all accessories and driveshaft.......just for reference....<95k miles
love-my-V8-280Z
This deal looks familiar. I would try real hard to go and see the seller and look at the motor. Every Z part I have bought off the web, here and E-Bay have not been either as nice as I thought or I was lied too. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is. is this an e-bay sale? If shipping is $500 than all he wants is $1700 for the motor? I would think he could sell it for more than that locally in a wheels and deals magazine. Why did they not leave it in a car so you can hear it run? I wouldn't buy a motor if I can't hear it run, there is always another deal. I bought the whole car motor/trans from a junkyard for $3000. Told them I wanted to hear it run, and they had it running when I arrived. 55,000 miles on it. Also if you want to keep the A/C with the help of a fellow hybridZer I was shown how to put the A/C across from the Alt.
80LS1T
But remember guys this is for only the LT1 not a T56 too. It does seem like are really good deal though. Well it IS really really really good deal but is it 100% legit? If so snag that sucker up. Oh an would it be possible to find out what kind of valve covers those are Guy
wheelman
Those valve covers look like the stock height, will 1.7:1 rockers even fit under them? And whats with using stock exhaust manifolds on an engine with that many mods? Sounds a little fishy to me. BTW: I got my LT1 and 4L60E in a running car with 102,000 miles for $1000.00. It's a retired Montana cop car so maybe that explains the price, but I still got a full donor car I could drive home. Wheelman
spdsk8r
Guy, those valve covers look like the same ones I have on my 350. They are just chrome plated stock type covers from Summit.
80LS1T
Guy, those valve covers look like the same ones I have on my 350. They are just chrome plated stock type covers from Summit. Yeah but they probably dont fit on my engine due to the alternator being over the front edge of the passenger side valve cover. They have to be specifically for an LT1 not just center bolt. Guest Chevelle7d2
well that guy seemed way to fishy so I backed out, and I think it was a smart move. I found a 383 LT1 that has the following done to it: -1994 T/A block -Eagle 4340 forged 3.75" crank -Eagle forged 6" H-beam rods -SRP forged flat top pistons (10.6:1 compression ratio) -heads were done by a local machine shop like a stage 2 setup (mild port/bowl work oversize valves) -CC305 cam, 220/230 duration @.050, .510/.510 lift (.544/.544 w/ 1.6 rockers) 114* LSA What for horsepower do you think this will be laying down?? Thanks!
