BrianV8Z
This is my first post. I started the V8 for the first time a couple of days ago. I had to tell someone. Using the search function and browsing the posts has provided me with so much information and answers to most of my questions. This site is great. I talked to a few of you guys at the Rio Vista event this year, hope to have my car there next year. My car is a 76 with a 350 (JTR), a 700R4 and enough fusible links and relays to make Pete Paraska smile. Brian

Dan Juday
I remember you! You came down with a buddy. I was so impressed that you drove all that way just to come to our little get-together. Congrats Brian on your first start. Open headers? Ahhh.... the memories. Get off the dime Kevin! You've been on this site for how long? And you still haven't started your swap? You know, that slogan of yours has an expiration date.
A. G. Olphart
Jealousy doesn't even start to cover it ... You have a real hybrid at your first post; I've been here for years and have a hulk in the corner . Guess I've reached the stage where I'm living through my dreams. BrianV8Z
Thanks guys.... I have been reading this site for almost a year now. It was time consuming to get information when the search function was down, but the info is there. Hey Dan, we had fun at the Rio Vista event. It took almost 12 hours one way with the stops for food and gas, but it was worth it. No open headers, I had the car towed to a muffler shop before starting it. Like the JTR manual says, it would have been easier for my wife to hear my screams for help. I have a transmission fluid leak from the cooler lines to fix before I can drive it. Soon I hope! GAZRNR
Congradulations on your first start. I had my 1st start 2 weeks ago after an 18 month project so I know how SWEET IT IS!
dot
Congratulations Brian. Ya it’s a real rush. 8) I had my first Z hybrid start in ’88. Open pipes. Timing out 180. Fire extinguisher. Black mark on the ceiling. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Chaparral2f
I don't envy you. Not Much! (Envy is much too mild a word!) Congratulations. Guess I should go out and work on the money pit. Howz about some pick of your Z? Joe

dot
Hey Brian: I can see why you have taken so long to put up some posts. Looks like you have busy working on the car. That is a sharp looking ride. Does it run as well as it sparkles? 8)

Guest plainswolf
Brian, Nice looking and CONGRADULATIONS!!!!! That even looks like an Edelbrock performer AIRGAP manifold on the top.. Any hood clearance issues with that?
BrianV8Z
I have hooker block hugger headers into 2.5 inch pipes that Y together behind the transmission mount and go into a Dynomax super turbo. When I get some time, I'll put together a web page with a bunch of pictures. Yes it is an AIRGAP and I have a 1 inch spacer under the carb. The spacer helped with clearance around the fuel log and heater hoses. There is about 3/4 of an inch between the hood and the outer edge of the air cleaner. I think the engine will move more than that so I'll have to do something. I may look for a cowl hood scoop. Brian
pparaska
Congrats Brian!! Nice looking install! - Relays - very addicting for me . Then again, I'm a geek - Fusible links - If I were doing it over, I'd use big fuses or circuit breakers. About the hood clearance - I have 1/2" from my moroso 14" air cleaner front edge to the hood, where the bump meets the rest of the hood. It's never touched, and I'm using the GM mounts JTR recommends, and a rubber Ford tranny mount.
jt1
Congratulations Brian! It's always a rush to hear something you've worked on for a long time come to life. Nice looking car and engine too. How about some details on the alternator and mount setup? That looks pretty sweet. John
BrianV8Z
Thanks for all the good words guys. I fixed the transmission cooler line leak. Just a loose fitting on the transmission. The car is drivable now, but the brakes are really bad. I got my brake kit from Ross yesterday. It's the 4x4 toyota setup. Should get it installed in the next week. My alternator is an 80 amp Denso from a mid to late 90s Camry. A local auto shop that a friend of mine owns got the mount and made some aluminum spacers for the pulleys to align the belt. Pete, I learned how to wire relays from reading some of your posts and your web site. Now I put them everywhere. Maybe I'm a geek too. I'll give the hood a try. Thanks Brian
