EvilRufusKay Posted July 5, 2004 Share Posted July 5, 2004 I saw some sort of gel / lube next to the flux-core wire I was buying. It said it "reduced splatter and splatter build-up on MIG tips." It didn't say how to apply it or anything eles on the container...made by Lincoln. Anybody ever use it? The flux-core set-up seems to produce tons of splatter... if it worked I would try it. Pop N Wood Posted July 5, 2004 Share Posted July 5, 2004 I have a can. I just dip the end of torch handle in the goo (preferrably when the MIG head is hot). It coats all the copper parts and makes the welding splatter less likely to stick. I am not as experienced as many guys on this site, but it does work. Back in highscool shop class thats what we used...it was cheaper than the stuff designed for your welder but works just as good! Plus if you run out...head into the kitchen for some more.
