Guest RCNSC
Is there really a Wangan Z? Have I played too much Tokyo Extreme Racer? Ok, I was looking at one of the HybridZ members sites v8Zcar.com I think? and he claimed to be inspired by some movie. Now I'm so lost when it comes to Initial D and Wangan Midnight and all this crap because A. I don't live in Japan and B. Googleing it brings up little. So I think Initial D is a cartoon show/arcade game featuring a Z? Wangan midnight is suppose to be a rival comic or movie or game or trading card or something? Ignorance is bliss.... So can anyone clear this up? http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/wangan.htm
DavyZ
Is there really a Wangan Z? http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/wangan.htm Only in the movie. There were a number of Japanese movies made with the car. Three carbs and turbocharged if I recall? I have a scale model of the thing. Very cool. Davy

If you are asking whether the actual car from the movie is out there on the freeways tearing it up, I doubt it. They say the car is an S30, but I swear it was an S31...have to recheck it... I don't know which came first the car or the movie, but most likely the car. Initial D doesn't feature a Z (yet), it's about drifting and canyon running. The Wangan Midnight comic is about high speed runs on public roads where anything can happen. There is a PS2 game as well as a sit-down arcade version, pretty cool. Check these out (Japanese text) http://www.genki.co.jp/games/midnight/ http://www.namco.co.jp/aa/am/vg/wanganmaxi/about_mode.shtml Every year I go to Japan and debate on whether to buy a J-PS2 just for this game...anyone familiar with chipping/mod chips c@pying PS2 games etc??? http://www.pc-success.co.jp/dir/catalog/O0018/O0018390.html Owen

I have a geeky video game friend who says you can solder(SP?) in a chip that will allow you to play games from any country. He brought up a cool Gran Turismo series game which we dont have, GT concept or something with all concept cars. Do a search on google and look for "mod" chips. They come will full instructions on how to install and use. Also, and I don't know if it works, but on my Gameshark it has something about foreign use... DVDs maybe? I've never used it but I could check it out.
Forrest
Owen, I believe TXR0 uses the same engine as Wangan Midnight. (Which is not that great.) TXR3 lets you create an s30 with a turbo L6. I just got that for the novelty. If there was a lot of story wtih the game, that would be different but otherwise, from what I heard, it wasn't worth all the trobule to get. I have the first 5 volumes of the Wangan Midnight manga, and that is some good stuff.

Venture
I have a PS2 with the chip. The chip wont fit in early model PS2's, the laser is to long. You have to put the later model laser in. I got a new laser, the chip installed, and 10 free games, all for $150. The only good thing about being stationed in Korea. What games should I be on the look out for?
