78zlt1
Update: I have the rear end that I am replacing removed from the donor car , I have to clean the mating surfaces up and general cleanup and trimming , then I remove the same section from the car. then fit everything back together , measure a million times, and weld. piece of cake. Drax240z
Just be super careful about the alignment... nothing is worse than having a Z where you can't get any of your panel gaps aligned because someone has done a poor job of measuring in the past! 78zlt1
I know what you mean, I'm gonna put the doors, hatch and fenders and hood on before I weld anything and make sure everything lines up.
78zlt1
Update: Well I cant stop cutting , I have a couple dozen more 3" cutting discs left so no metal is safe till there gone. Took off the rear panel, the whole left rear is next...... I am content in knowing I have lost my mind , and press on........... Anyone have a good set of inner rear quarters, Or maybe I'll just fab some from sheet .
datsunlover
Man... thats scarry how much it reminds me of my 280 last year! I riped off all the bondo back there and went "AAAHHGGG!!!! Where did the car go!!??" I didn't go as far as you have (rear floor, whole quarter from donor car) but wow.. I feel your pain! I just fab'd sheet metal for all the 'hidden' areas and sealed/painted them. The quarters and roll pan.. well... I fab'd them too, but then I wiped out the f.glass and bondo.. amazing stuf... Looking good man.. don't loose hope!

peej410
Just be super careful about the alignment... nothing is worse than having a Z where you can't get any of your panel gaps aligned because someone has done a poor job of measuring in the past! haha, having started my project with no knowledge and now attained a great deal after 3 years of playing, my door gaps are shot !!! but thats ok i learned in the process and now im not afraid of modifying my doors to make it all look right eventually. here are the pics of all my progress http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/peej410/album?.dir=b912 note: i measured well just did way too much welding. ive used about 18lbs of welding wire so far hahahaha
