Guest Cronic
My relay or something is going bad. Sometimes when the car sits over night, it takes a good 15-20 mins for the pump to turn on when the key is in the ON position. Can I just run the pump to a 12V switch? Like to the ignition switch? Or just a normal switch? Can I bypass the relay all together?
Guest Cronic
Anyone??
mark
Check the voltage at the pump to confirm that the pump is not getting power. Mark
dapiper
Should rewire fuel pump direct to batt thru relay and fuse. Use AWG 12 to keep resis low. Pump can draw 10 amp when working against backpress from boost.
Guest Cronic
Ran directly to batery, pump runs constant, does not prime... should it do this? Car also would not start when pump was directly connected to batery. eventually, the pump came on w/ the key in the ON position. Gave me problems this morning too, but I let it sit for 30 mins in the ON position, and it came back on. Hardwire to bat. does not work!? Why? dapiper
Maybe pump internals corroded from crud in tank and/or bushings bad. Pump should run off batt.
Guest Cronic
The pump runs, and pulls fuel. However it doesn't stop running. it doesnt allow the car to crank cause it just keeps dumping in fuel?
Guest fattyjay22
I had the EXACT same problem, but my pump would never come on!!! I went the hot wire direction, then realized I was running VERY LEAN!!! I found ou mine was the fuel contact point in the AFM. I just douced it with some electrical carbon cleaner and it has never run better!!!! HOpe this helps. PM me if you have any questions!! Good luck!! Guest Cronic
Interesting.. the MAF determines the fuel pump? Please let me know exactly what you did, and where you're talking about. Thanks!
