Tim240z
Ross Pistons is based in CA, why not just go directly to the source? They are in El Segundo, CA (< 3 miles from my house ), and do lots of custom and one-off orders.... http://www.rosspistons.com/ ROSS Racing Pistons 625 S. Douglas Ave. El Segundo, CA 90245 ORDER LINE 800-392-7677 TECH LINE 310-536-0100 FAX LINE 310-536-0333
aarang
If you go directly through Ross, You will pay upwards of $750-$800. If you buy them through Summit like I did, you will end up paying about $460 for the same exact thing. Gotta love the buying power of a large company!! The part number I used for L28 dished pistons was #35-32. That is a Ross p/n according to Summit. I just had to call Ross after paying Summit and give them my order number and give them a brief description of what I wanted. They ended up wanting a sample so I sent them an old turbo piston with a note telling them EXACTLY what I wanted done. You can't give them too much info! Ross does have a few L series piston configurations in their data base which helps. It took them six weeks to make them, but it was worth the wait and the $300 I saved. 240zprace
tim, i,ve already called them up and spoke to the tech already... thanks anyways for the info. aaron, thanks for the part# and the tech said he could make some for me for $460 (pistons), $75 (rings), $50 (wrist pins)...but i'm thinking going 87mm bore instead of stock (86mm)... so are the ones you got look exactly like stocks or a tab difference? compression wise? aarang
The ones I got were 86.5 mm with a dish volume of 6cc's. I wanted to raise the compression slightly, but not too much. All the other specs are basically stock.I paid $463 which included rings, pins, and clips. I told Ross it wasall included in the price from Summit So they sent it all to me for that price. rags
I did a group buy about a year ago for stroker pistons from Ross. I think we came up with 7 or 8 sets and they came in under $400 for a set. That included rings and locks. If anyone is interested I can look up the specs and try to get another group buy going. I'd even buy another set! Joe
240zprace
rags, will the specs you got work with a non stroker motor..ie, stock turbo crank and rods??
rags
Sorry no. The pistons were made to create a 10-1 e31 headed 3 liter or a 8.5-1 P90 headed 3 liter. Diesel crank and 240 length rods are a must. Joe
