KraZeeZX
Well as usual... more delays for me. The body shop has pretty much done nothing with my car for 3 weeks except take the huge cowl hood off and set a junker hood on top. Called 'em up today and let them have it... it'll be done by next weekend. (fingers-crossed) Here's what's left: (just little things.. not much) These are the body shop's tasks: - PAINT (you'll see in the pic below) - Install hood & latch mechanism - Re-fit front bumper Once that's done... I drive home and fix what's left: - 2 wiper motors from a 5th gen Corvette (the only ones that will fit now) - Find a simple way to route the intake so it doesn't interfere with the hood latch After those 2 things are taken care of.. the car will be totally driveable with a stock hood back on it. After that I can get into all the nitpicky things that need to be taken car of... - Put my new wheels on (see em here: http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=37214 ) - Put all the interior pieces (in the trunk area) back together - Figure out how to get my stock shift knob to fit - New radiator brackets (mine are rusty) - Aluminum panels to cover the computer and fuses in the engine bay - Corvette fuel rail covers (I'm going to sand 'em and custom paint them) - Painted intake manifold (as close to polished as I can get it to look) - Relocate the trunk battery (i'm buying a lightweight one and sticking it in my spare-tire well.) - whatever other little tiny things I can think of It's all really simple stuff to do. I just need to get the car back from the body shop so I can get started! Sucks that it's been delayed again though... soon though... soon. On with the pics: oh ya.... I WILL HAVE A VIDEO FOR YOU SUNDAY!!!!!! (no driving.. but starting and revving will be included! ) This makes me want to cry... I'll take care of the green zip-ties soon enough... I'm building aluminum covers for this side... And all of this stuff too... The shift knob WILL be chaged... this one is only temporary. This battery box will be removed and replaced with a hidden setup. These are keeping me very happy about my car! Wish me luck on the rest of the little things! -Vann
blueovalz
It's great to see another model being hybridized. Great looking job! I hope you've documented the install as I'm sure many will be wanting this reference data for future swaps. BTW, that top radiator hose looks like trouble
KraZeeZX
It's great to see another model being hybridized. Great looking job! I hope you've documented the install as I'm sure many will be wanting this reference data for future swaps. BTW' date=' that top radiator hose looks like trouble [/quote'] Ya, my NA was just itching for more power and well, z32 NA's don't have many options for upgrades in that area... hence the upgrade I made for it! I didn't necessarily document it all, but all of the information in stored in the 'ol cranium database for later reference. Once I'm done with everything, I'm going to sit down and type out every little detail about the swap. I could probably write a book on my adventure! About the radiator hose... ya, it doesn't look good, however, the engine runs fine and doesn't overheat.. so it's fine just for now while I'm driving back and forth from shops. I need to fix it though... would it not kink if I got a longer hose and ran it further down and then back up to the radiator instead of straight across like that? Too bad the fixture for the radiator isn't on the passenger side.. that would'a made it much easier! -Vann
john kosmatka
Nice, cant wait to see the vid, so when do the burnout vids arrive .
wheelman
You could replace the radiator hose with 2 90 degree sections spliced together with some stainless steel pipe. Nice looking setup. Do you have any pictures of how you handled the motor and tranny mounts? Wheelman
Drax240z
Or get a spring to put inside the hose to keep it from collapsing so bad... that hose left like that will cause you problems down the road, even if it is fine right now. Otherwise, I can't wait to see more pics!
CruxGNZ
What happened to the supercharger? !M!
80LS1T
IMHO, you need to spend some time in that engine bay and clean up all those wires and hoses! My engine bay used to look like that before I went back through it and cleaned it up. I am much happier now. Yeah its not fun but its a lot more fun popping the hood when the engine bay is nice an tidy. I am actually going to clean it up even more when I reinstall the engine after I get the car painted. Trust me on this one. Otherwise it look like its going to be a really really really fun car and quite the sleeper! Guy
KraZeeZX
Alright... replies in order: John - Burnout vids - oh man.. that'll be fun! I don't want to mess up those tires too bad though... I'm going to sell the stock wheels/tires once I get my new ones on.. can't sell someone a set of belts & sidewalls... can I? Wheelman/Drax240z - The idea of 2 90' sections sounds good.. but the spring idea sounds easier and less expensive! We'll see if I can find a suitable srping... if not, I'll get the 90' pipes. Thanks for those suggestions! Wheelman... what kind of pics are you looking for exactly? Just pics of all the mounts? Lemme know.. I've probably got somethin I can show ya. Mat73gnz - LONG story.. but to make it short: it was illegally taken off the car (basically stolen) and I'll be getting compensation sometime in the future. Once I get the money back... I've got 2 options lined up: A) Stay NA and do a big heads/cam swap plus some other cool stuff Get a c5 procharger system (that one will fit under my stock hood ) We'll just have to wait and see how large the check is. My goal is to get my HP/TQ ratings up to the equivalent of the new Viper or better... 500/500 is a nice figure to aim for! 80LT1 - It's listed above... first thing I'm doing with the car once it's done is cleaning the engine bay! I have some wicked ideas... it's going to look VERY clean. I've got the C5 Corvette fuel rail covers on the way.. those alone will make it look nicer. On top of those (which I am customizing) I am basically going to go all-out with aluminum panels that will cover just about everything 'cept the engine itself. I'm going to be taking this car to a LOT of shows and obviously the engine is the centerpiece of the creation.. so I am WELL aware of how clean it needs to be... and I'll make it that clean, and then cleaner! I am ridiculous when it comes to tidyness and organization... you should see my room and inside of my computer... it's almost sick how tucked away everything is. I am going to have a bunch of fun with the sleeper aspect. I can't wait! -Vann
wheelman
Pics of the engine mounts and tranny crossmember are what I'm interested in. I don't have an S32 but I've always liked that body style and who knows maybe I'll do an LS1 swap into one in the future. All the info I can get will help with that and I'm sure there are others here would also like to see how you did it. Wheelman
