Guest 240ZZ4
Ok well I am putting a zz4 in a 72 datsun, Demon Carb, ProCharger P-1SC-2, geting a Bwt-5 for a tranny (not built yet so room to work on gearing), Now i need a rearend, Looking for something bullet proof... like a ford 9" well I was thinking Turbo Thunderbird but i was looking at them they have the Quad shock set up and discs, but will it FIT with out cutting the hell out of my fenders.? and still let me run big slicks for the track? Also do i want to stick with the factory (to the rear end) 3.55:1 or do i want to get some liek 4.11's ? or do should i get something like a Lincoln mark Vii Rear..? same rear but if i remember it 2" wider has traction lock and disc breaks, also since i am going to disc (it looks like) whats a good master cylnder to swap to..? (sorry long post)

dr_hunt
8) I went with the 9 inch ford rear with drum brakes. Disc's will work, but you'll need a different proportioning valve than stock z. I guess the z rears take some abuse, but they never imagined what engine I'd put in the car!

datsunlover
Ok.. um.. a couple things.. wtf is 'woot woot' Maybe I'm getting old... Second.. forgive my ignorance but what is a zz4? And I thought there were lots of guys here running big bad V8 hi-po monsters through an r200 or r230 with no problems.. and IMHO, the Z's IRS is a good system.. I never understood why people would want to rig in a solid axle.. unless it's a dedicated drag car that gets trailered to the track, and really has no place being driven on the street.. DavyZ
ZZ4 is a factory high performance motor. They are sweet, but I'll take a used LS1 anyday of the week since they can be tweaked with forced induction through the EFI . I agree that the diff is tuff enough to withstand most anything, especially i it is an R200 or an R230. I just procured an R230 and man, is it big!
