Guest 1fastz
that guy either had 1 of two things. 1 a unported out of the box casting afr 220 he bought bare and put his own valves in without the cnc work or 2. a horible screwed up valve job.. OR a machine shop that purposly lowered the vacume on his head so he would think there vortechs were much better then they are. afr 220s with the full cnc package flow 310 plus cfm on the intake at .700 lift. NOT by afrs advertisment there numbers are actualy low compared to what the heads realy flow but my my personal exsperiance with them and havieng seen about 6 sets flowed and all being very near identicle in flow on that bench. jt1
That is pretty interesting. It's hard for me to believe the Vortec was that good and the AFR was that bad. I would probably have to see that myself to be firmly convinced. Maybe extensive mods to the Vortec and something wrong with the AFR, it could happen. If that guy runs a 421 dirt modified, I would think he had his heads sorted out better than that. John
Mike C
There has been some additions to the post. The AFRs were the factory CNC, but the Vortecs had been modified. Still intersting. The AFR 195 appears to be a better head? Maybe their testing was bogus. As with anything on the 'net, "Your mileage may vary." I had already made up my mind to go Vortecs on the motor planned for my Jimmy, and still they seem to be best bang for the $. Especially if you haven't already bought an intake and rocker arms. Mudge
AFRs really should be ported, and not by AFR.
