Guest bastaad525
I'm surprised almost no one here is voting for the beautiful sound of the L6 I love the way my turbo L6 sounds, almost like a mild V8 at idle, and like a pissed off fighter jet when I'm on it. I'm only running a glasspack... and the turbo muffles it a bit of course, as well. Funny enough, I actually really like the sound with the glasspack... very unlike what the two V8 cars I've owned ('81 Camaro, '64 Ford Galaxie) sounded like with them (I didn't like the sound on them). I must say though... I really miss how it sounded when I was running just the open downpipe If I could mimic that sound but minus the excess volume, I would in a heartbeat. EDIT: You know... even with a BOV (1G DSM) mine does more of the shooshshooshshoosh sound than just one pfffffft. Why would the compressor be surging though?? I know the BOV works... maybe I really screwed up putting it right after the I/C instead of right in front of the TB? Didn't think it made THAT much difference? The 240/silvia in that vid makes the shooshshooshshoosh sound though... maybe that means I'm okay
Owen
Owen' date=' Here is the best I can describe in words: Before the BOV installation after a shift: shoosh shoosh shoosh shoosh shoosh After the BOV installation after a shift: psssssssssssst[/quote'] This is just a wild guess....don't know if the first sound is surging but rather air hitting the blades when the TB is snapped shut With the BOV, you get the second sound which is air being released to the outside, which is the purpose of the BOV in order not to damage the blades. Again, just a guess Owen
Owen
The 240/silvia in that vid makes the shooshshooshshoosh sound though... maybe that means I'm okay Don't know if you're OK... But that sound in the vid is probably due to the type of BOV, sounds like one of those newer sequential BOV thingies. Owen
auxilary
I love the sound of a properly tuned straight 6. My Z sounded pretty good at idle with a 2.25" exhaust and a single muffler.
