aarang
After reading the previous "Name your clutch" post, I was about ready to plunk down the cash for the Spec stg II from Clutch Express. The guy emailed me back and said that Spec has a new six-puck carbon kevlar clutch called the "3K" that will perform like a metal puck clutch, but will be much smoother and won't chew up a flywheel as badly. He doesn't have info on his site yet for it. I've tried to find info on it, but haven't had any luck. Anyone have any experience with this clutch? Supposedly it will handle 500ft lbs and is only $20 more than the stg II. Thanks in advance Aaron
JMortensen
I haven't used it, but that sounds like a good idea! The whole deal with the pucks is your clamping a smaller surface area which puts more effectively puts more force on the pucks than on the larger surface area of a normal disk. The only problem I see with the idea is if you're one of these guys who slips the clutch to spool the turbo when you launch, then you'll be wearing on a much smaller surface, so the disk will wear out much faster. For someone like me who does autoxing and time trials this sounds like just the ticket though... might have to get one of those next time around... yo2001
Spec is local here. The word around here is to get a StageIII or higher.
