Another Sundays worth on the Z

Recommended Posts

Made some more progress yesterday. Got the Fuel injection wiring harness and computer removed, all the A/C lines are out, and the clutch is out. I soaked everything with engine cleaner and powerwashed it twice.

The next step it to remove the MAF mount close to the front of the car, then remove the transmission mounts from the tunnel.

After that its paint time (POR). After that I am going to replace the steering rack bushings, and any other one’s I can easily get my hands on.

I still have to purchase the Autometer electric speedometer, and tachometer. Also I am going to go with the JTR aluminum radiator and a Taurus fan setup.

Maybe I can get the mounts in by next weekend! If I don’t get too caught up in the “while I’m at it syndrome†I might have a driver by Christmas.

Lookin good man!! If you have not already bought the POR 15 I would reconsider. I bought it and am peeved at the results. It works great on heavy rust but WILL NOT stick to clean metal or non-coroded painted surfaces. I wish I had used a simple zinc based etching primer. Keep up the good work!

On the fresh metal you need to etch it before the Por 15 or it will peal.

do you mean you use an etching primmer or just rough the metal up with a grinder so the por-15 can stick. im in the same process that DaleMX is in and i have already order my por-15, want to know it is going to stick to my metal. after all the time i spent sanding down old paint
