Mikelly
The C5? Couldn't tell you ... Makes about 310HP at the wheels is a good guess... We turned 296HP on a dyno with 6 cracked plugs, so I'm guessing with the new plugs and colder air (Garage had a pathetic little fan deep in a bay) I'm probably low 13s. However, I've got a new set of LGM longtubes, a Z06 upper induction setup, and a NEW 400+ wheel HP motor on the way... That, the new eradispeed rotors, the Z06 wheels and Hoosiers, and the Z06 suspension bits I bolted on last year will make this car a blast to drive... I expect low 12s to high 11s in the new configuration... and I'm thinking about some 4:11 gears... 8) The ZX9R... Well lets just say I Don't launch it... Anymore... Stood it up and almost dumped it at 7K RPMS stretched over the tank... So now I'm carve corners... Today, for instance, I ground down half a new set of Teknics pucks... I'm sliding on the street a LOT on this bike... I LOVE THIS BIKE! Mike
Phantom
Posted times for a stock C5 is 13.2 at about 105-108 mph. That makes them "fun-to-beat" for a well set-up V8 Z but a little modifying and the tables get turned.
Mikelly
What I have found is that even with minor mods, I still don't think I'm in the 12s. The car is quick, and I've done a couple neat little things for additional power, like the XR1 Race exhaust, bigger plug wires, new plugs, a Cold Air kit from GMS, and opening the driving light housings, plus the cold air scoop under the car, and the Z06 clutch kit. One thing that matters more than all of it is something I've not done... LS1 Edit software tuning... I'm gonna havbe to break down and buy it! THis morning, coming up the interstate I ran over a muffler someone lost in the road... It showered the car with sparks as it got jammed under the car... Fortunately the cold air scoop caught the muffler and stopped it from going further under the car... I got lucky and had NO body damage and no UNDER CAR damage, other than that metal duct scoop with the bow tie on it... I took it off tonight and was able to straighten it, but need to replace the hardware... All four bolts were bent! Strong car!
