MYRON
This was a big wakeup call for him. My little brother(23 yrs)got a deal on a 2000 Ninja ZX6 the other day.. Basically he just took up payments on the bike for a girl that repoed it from her dead beat boyfriend... Long story short he was stitting at a stoplight and he heard screeching tires.... WHAAAAMMMMOOO.... He got hit from behing and then pushed into the back of a minivan... Right as he started to jump from the bike is when he got hit so the impact threw him clear of the 2 cars... A jeep Cherokee with a fresh out of drivers ed driver... she hadnt had her license 2 weeks.... Bike is totaled my brother got extreemly lucky.. The bumper was "V'ed" in on the Jeep to the point it busted the radiator and the back gate on the minivan was wasted and the window blown out. He had just put new tires on the bike to... Turns out the girl was not yet on her parents policy and the insurace company refused to pay the claim.... BE CAREFUL OUT THERE MIKE AND ANY OTHERS THAT RIDE!!! you never know where its coming from.... Myron
Mikelly
I don't know about Texas, but technically her parents are next in line to pay the bill... If she wasn't on their Policy and THEY let her drive THEIR car uninsured, then THEY are liable. Don't let your little bro let this drop... He could have been killed. That situation was a bad one and he couldn't do anything... However, when I'm riding my bike, my attitude is that I'm invisible to EVERYONE and I am VERY defensive... Still, you can't avoid some idiot running over you from behind like that... Mike
Guest Anonymous
Glad to hear he was ok, four wheelers I tell ya... Thats the worst part of being a biker, people just don't see you even when its right in front of they're car. Glad to hear he's ok though, thats the important part. I agree 100% with Mike, I believe the parents are liable. I'd get an accident attorney and discuss the whole thing. Because she wasn't on they're policy doesn't take away from they're liability if like Mike said they let her use the car with they're blessing and knowledge. Sport bikes are to expensive to just forget about and call a write off. I'd make someone pay or at least try. Regards, Lone
Sumo
Glad to hear he wasnt hurt. My father got into an accident when a kid with the same situation made a left turn infront of my dad. He bypassed the left turn bay and made a left turn from the middle lane and they got thrown out of their jeep and my dad was knocked to the side. The kid was not insured but we ran after his dad and the state called us to see how much damaged there was to see if they wanted to revoke his license till 21. The fathers insurance company paid and im pretty sure he paid for it too. This was 12 years ago but my dads ok and im pretty sure his dad is pissed off at him still. DavyZ
Yep, they are next in line to pay the bill. His insurance company may have to sue to collect, and sue they will... Glad to hear he's relatively ok; sorry about the bike. Davy
GrayZee
Yeah that sucks, and just when I am thinking of getting back on two wheels.. Oh well look at it this way. In this particular case, motorcycles aren't dangerous. Idiots driving cars are! Could have just as easily been walking down the sidewalk and get nailed by a car. I know, because it happened to someone I know. He got hit by a half ton Chevy. Seems that the guy was three times over the blood/alcohol limit on a Sunday afternoon and jumped the curb nailing my buddy! Glad to hear your brother is ok though, he is very lucky! (more lucky than my buddy was) Hope he wasn't too shaken up after that experience, he might wanna second guess motorcycles as a means of transport.
