new/used coilover pricing

Recommended Posts

I found a coilover conversion set like this http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=12 from someone that needs to sell them. They have never been used but he does not know what springs he as since he got the set used also. He also does not know if its for a 240 or 280 but I guese I can have him measure to see on that part of it. As for the springs how can you tell what they are?

Oh and whats a fair price for something like this if I am gambling on the springs?

Take a board or a book (something flat and hard), a bathroom scale and a stick (2X2, 2X4, broom stick, ect.). Measure the spring and cut the stick 1 inch less than the length of the spring. Place the spring on the bathroom scale, then place the stick inside the spring, then place the board ontop of the spring and now slowly push down on the spring untill the board hits the stick. Now read the scale. Really simple and it gives you a pretty good idea of what the spring rate is.
