Guest Mizugori
im hearing some scary news that a zx is apparently slightly different in shape than a z, as far as housing the engine...so can a 1983 280zx take a chevy (or even a ford) small block engine? without cutting the hood? how complicated, and where to start? thanks a lot!! 80LS1T
Yes both a SBC and a SBF will fit. Heck there is even one guy on this board that has a small block mopar engine in his. There is no hood cutting required with the right set up. Do a search for "280ZX V8" and start reading. There is a ton of info on this great site. spdsk8r
Welcome Mizugori, The V-8 does fit in a ZX. I even have a Performer intake with a 1" spacer between it and a Holley 600dp. All this under the stock hood. Sure, it's tight but it does fit.
