Mikelly
Guys, Several times I have had the chance to go Kart racing, and have loved it. This last week at MSA reminded me of how much I enjoyed it when I was in Germany, and I can't take it anymore... I'm searching for a Racing Kart... The bike is up for sale (Rode it yesterday and it is just too damned uncomfortable) and I'm gonna take some of the proceeds from that and buy a Kart... Actually I'm currently looking at a few on line, but I'm pretty serious about it. I'm also re-evaluating my ZCar plans and one of my project cars is outta here as soon as I can find a buyer... jeromio
I've never even driven an actual racing kart. But having read all of Doug Hayashi's chapters at http://nsxfiles.com, I am more than convinced that this is something I will have to be getting into. Except that in my case I won't have any money until at least 2004 when I'm done with grad school . Are there many tracks/events/series around this area though? Those SoCal guys have it made with all the tracks they have and events for cars/karts/bikes - whatever. Do they do any karting at VIR for instance? Mikelly
Not sure about VIR, but I know of several asphault and dirt tracks within two hours drive and Summit Point has several series. I know Richmond, Va. and the tidewater area are hotbeds for Kart racing... Mike Kelly
Tim240z
Mike, I used to race 100cc Yamaha Karts back home. I was very seriously looking into it a couple of years ago, but just as I was about to lay down some cash on an almost brand new used cart, my wife fell preggers. Anyways, contact me offline if you want any details. I am planning to get one when the Z-8 is on the road and I can concentrate on other things again (I get tunnel vision when working on a project). Also, as soon as my son is 4 years old, I'm getting him a little 80cc one too!! Schumaker (sp), Senna etc all started Karting at that age!!
