The topic is basicaly my question.... would it be possible to steal the turn switch system from a chevy(any car or truck) and mount it on the Z column... so i can jus buy the GM universal wiring kit.. so i can jus plug into it instead of having to wire it all up?

Thank you

I think if you wanted to do something like this, the best way to go about it would be to replace the entire steering column with a street-rod column. Integrating the wiring with different styles of switches could be daunting. The turn signal assembly on a GM column is much more integral than the Nissan switchgear.

That is along the same lines that I was planning on doing, replacing the steering column with something else. I don't like the feel of the stock switches basically, and the wiring probably could get easier. I would also like to have tilt. I was thinking of using a new Maxima or similar assembly though. A street rod assembly should also work well, I just have not gotten to the point where I have to choose yet. I do want something that looks 'right' though, not all shiny and out of place in my interior.

As for changing just the switches, and reusing the steering column, I would think that with a little creativity and fabrication, it should not be that hard...famous last words I guess...

Yea.. I like the idea that i will know that i did the wiring... but if i could use that GM switch assembly... then i could buy that GM harness.... thats what i wanted to go for. Doesnt seem like it would be that hard.. guess i dont know too much.

Thanks yall.

I would use a tilt column out of a Jeep Wrangler. The ones from about 90 to 95 I', sure would look decent because they are basic and have GM wiring. Easy for parts too. I love these columns and may use one myself. Should be cheap to at a bone yard. They have auto tranny columns if needed but the shift indicator is built in I think
