Guest Anonymous
The really bad part is that if they run a trace on the title/VIN; the guy who the car is registered to might be in serious dutch.
Lockjaw
He will probably just get a letter telling him where the car is and how much it is gonna cost him to get it out of lock-up. I would pay the tickets and get it over with. If they figure out who you are and I am sure they will with the tag or by checking with the owner of record, they are going to come and get you and take you to jail. Worst thing about it is since you did not come in an pay your parking tickets, they are going to make you post bond to get out of jail, so unless you have extra cash laying around, a rich friend with cash laying around, or good credit, you will be in jail until arraignment or until you post bond. Dude you are learning one of life's lessons the hard way. You cannot go against the municipality unless you do it by their rules. They will always win, and they will always force you to do what they want by the point of a gun if necessary. So take some good advice from us older folks who have been there and done that and make your life simplier and just pay the price for what you have done so far, learn your lesson, and then don't let it happen again. I know it sucks, trust me I know. I would be mad too. If you want to have some fun and get back at them, get 20 dollars worth of nickels and run around putting them in parking meters ahead of the meter maid. Go down to the next city council meeting and fuss. You have to do things the right way. Check with the city you probably have to get added to the agenda. Guest greimann
Just curious, is Mr. 'Karmacreepin still out there? Or are you in jail? (no response and we will assume the latter)
Guest BadKarmaCreepin
no, i'm still verymuch out here, i went to chicago for the weekend, and the guy is coming today to buy the car and pay the fines and **** . i've been trying to pass time not thinking about it (golf, broke 100 baby!). there will be no jail in my near future (hopefully), oh yeah, i have some other questions: ok, so i got my license suspended last may (2001) and then got pulled over in june (2001), went to court, and since this is a college town, and the judge assumed i had money, wouldn't let me get a public defender, and said i had to hire an outside attorney. so she postponed the court date, and i never showed up. so 2 things, can i go in and represent my self and settle everything? and (i know there's a bench warrant out for me probably) what's gonna happen when i finally do go into court? thanks damn, i always seem to be a fugitive from the law...i should document it
Mike kZ
Man you are a mess aren't you! You will have a warrant against you, but if you turn yourself in to straighten things out, they may not re-arrest you. That all depends on the cop I guess. You will most likely be fined for not showing at your last court date though. What will happen in court, I'm not sure, I guess it depends if they take pitty on you.Good luck!!!! Guest Anonymous
You can represent yourself. Not showing up and getting pulled over the second time are some big problems. Go talk to the dockett clerk with a good believable excuse.(They have heard them all so rely on stipidity and forgivness that you just want your record straightened out (boo hoo). The dockett clerk will tell you about what the judge will do for or to you.And don't bring your buddies to Court and swallow that gum before you address "your Honor" Look "repentant" of a young man who has seen the error of his ways. Do not argue because you were guilty shortly after the kind , reasonable, honorable, generous faithful public servant issued you the citation. Mikelly
...In short, you are screwed and you need to go face the music...Man that SUX. I'd call the clerk of the court (Don't go in in Va or they will have you apprehended on the spot!) and find out what your total to settle the initial amount is, and then pay that (Via check or money order or CC) and then after that is cleared, turn yourself in, and ask to be released with a court date. You probably won't get a day in jail initially, but you may pull time when you finally go before the judge. My recommendation is to use the money you get from the sale of the Z towards squaring it all away. And then stay the hell out of trouble! Guest Locutus
For tickets most judges are hard asses about getting paid but they will work with you if you are really truthfully willing to work out a reasonable payment arrangement, they know most people don't have a 1000 extra bucks just laying around. Go to court beg forgiveness and honestly offer to pay and take care of the situation. Don't offer a $5 a month solution they will laugh at you. Try offering a $100 a month. You might also consider sitting it out in the county jail. I know in Texas in most counties you get $50 a day credit toward your fines. $75 if you become what they call a trustee and actualy do some work. They typically let traffic offenders become trustees quickly since they are non violent offenders and low risk of trying to run off. Guest BadKarmaCreepin
so i finally got the car out of the pound (by paying the fines) and it turns out the fines were only like $250. BUT...my license has close to $800 in fines on it. is this possible? i thought you could only get fined for parking. i know you can get fined outside of that, but doesn't a judge do that when you're standing in front of him/her? just curious. anyway, the car is sold, i have $1400 left over, and i am defintely happy i didn't jack the car. now i have to use that loot to pay for a security deposit and 1st month rent on my new place in evanston, il (NORTHWESTERN BABY!) then while working, i'll pursue my turbo 240...but in the meantime, keep my head a float. peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeace!! DavyZ
Good luck with your new plans. Glad to hear things have worked out better than they might have otherwise been. Davy
BLKMGK
If you don't show up for court they fine you anyway, often times higher than if you had showed up and explained things. Showing up is a show of respect and they get VERY upset when you don't do that!
Trevor
If you are intent on stealing that car, just save your nickels and outbid the curbstone dealers at the next Police surplus property auction.
