Guest vwjer
Hi all, This might be a stupid question but how are you guys getting the cars up high enough for mounting in the rotiseres?
Dp351zcar
I just mounted the brackets on the car and then lifted each end up and put it on the stand. My car was a completely stripped 71 and so was not too heavy. The hard part was keeping it from moving forward of back while I was doing it. Guest vwjer
thanks for the reply, I have a 74 260 and wasn't sure if it would be light enough to do that with.take care

Vintage-TechZ
If need be ...you can use a engine hoist with the chains going down to the strut towers attatched by bolts and washers (and of course nuts too !) The lift is positioned on one side and the rotiserrie at the end of the car. Now I did this with the hatch and hood removed of course. Otherwise if your wrist is in a cast, you'll just have to use a floor jack and a pile of boards along with jackstands.......raise the car as high as the stands will go.Then let the jack down and stack a bunch of boards or railroad tie stubs and hope they push her up high enough......but the engine hoist works sweet and safe.(for those of you with family) ..................Vinny
maichor
I had everything out of the car and did a deadlift, one end at a time. Rested the car on my leg to put the bolts in on the front. Had to have the wife put in the bolts while I held up the rear. It is doable but I would advise getting some more helpers.
Brad-ManQ45
I built my rotiserrie with provision to use two bottle jacks to lift the car off my jackstands. All's it took was some 1/4" plate andan extra 20" of tubing. Made platforms for the bottle jacks to sit on and used gussets underneath these and on each side of pivot to keep jack from sliding off. EvilRufusKay
I have two old style hydraulic bumper jacks that go up to about 4.5' I put one on each side of the car about midway, crossed my fingers, and started lifting, it was no problem. In fact, I plan on installing my complete suspension before letting her down.
