Guest Aaron
Yesterday I took possession of my wife's and my new toys. Hers is a purple '03 Honda Shadow VT600 Deluxe and mine is a black '03 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 800. She has never driven a bike before, and this is my first street bike. We have to go shopping for helmets, gloves, etc, then we will start practicing in the pasture next to our house. We have the MSF Basic Rider Course scheduled for March 18-20. It is going to be a fun summer. I'll take some pics this weekend.
Tim240z
That's a big bike for a first street bike. Be carefull and always wear leathers, boots and lids..... Have fun and watch out for the idiots in cages....
2126
As it was once explained to me, its not a question of "IF" you will have an accident, but only a matter of "WHEN". If you really want to learn to handle a motorcycle, get some dirt bikes so your not exposed to cars and can explore the limits of your capabilities without paying the ultimate price! Just some free advise from an old motorcycle guy, who has many many miles on and off the track. Good luck and keep the rubber side down. datsunlover
yup yup yup.. A good friend of mine has rode bikes for years, and all without an accident; Until last summer. Came up a ramp onto a highway, road was a little wet (just stoped raining) and the traction dissapeard. He told me as soon as it started to go, he thought "well, here comes the 'when'..hope I don't get run over.." Luckily, the traffic was light (10:30 at night), he managed to lay it down fairly smooth, and slide off to the right hand paved shoulder. Bike got a few scrapes, and his leathers were a little wrecked, but he got back on and rode home.
Guest Aaron
We know there are risks. This is something we have both wanted and looked at for several years. We live in a very rural area, miles from any heavily trafficed roads. I think that gives us the luxury to learn the bikes and build our confidence before we venture out too far. Not having helmets, etc. is the reason we could resist the urge to drive them around the block yesterday.
BrandonsZ
Instead I'm going to take a 2500lb car shoehorn in an engine with 3 times the torque of the original engine and floor it.
