shauno
So I've got my head off, and manifolds sitting on the bench in front of me. I really didn't enjoy removing them with the turbo in the way. One thought I've had is to remove the webbing between the runners on the intake to allow access to the underside bolts and also allow the exhaust to cool quicker without heat soaking the intake as much. Do you think it would sacrifice strength? Has anyone done this? Thanks a bunch.

Chemicalblue
It bakes the injectors when u do that. If it the heat your worrying about, ceramic coat the manifolds. If the prob is just access get a wobble 12 and 14mm and a mirror and flashlight. Ive got it down to 20 min now, its not bad after the first 2 times. fl327
theres only like 8-10 bolts holding both of them on there, and they are pretty easy to get to. i had to pull the distributor to get good access to the bolt closest to front of car, but both manifolds came off pretty quick. I left the turbo bolted to the downpipe, but took it off the manifold pretty easy, to line it back up when I put it back together I had to use a small jack to get the turbo lined up. Not hard. Guest bastaad525
whoa whoa... what's this about baking the injectors? I run an early 280z manifold that doesn't have this webbing... I've had no problems with the injectors so far (this is for about a year now). I know there are many, MANY other guys on here who run the unwebbed manifold, probably much longer than I have, and have no problems with the injectors..... And having had the stock 280zxt manifold on there before, I DEFINATELY agree that it's easier to get to those bolts without the webbing. Well, to put it this way, now that I have the unwebbed manifold, I can actually get to all of the exhaust manifold bolts w/o taking off the intake... not sure if I could do that with the webbed one but I do know that it's much easier just do to the fact that I can SEE all of the bolts from above now. This has come in very handy for me as the exhaust manifold bolts all loosened up a bit after rebuilding the head after like the first 1000 miles... anyways I recheck them every so often and am VERY thankful to have the unwebbed manifold.
